Pixel Character Creator 2D for Unity
A downloadable tool
Did you download these 40 top-down pixel art characters but were you left wanting more? Well, in that case, why not create your own characters?
The Pixel Character Creator 2D is a Unity asset meant to help you create many pixel art characters in a short amount of time. This asset comes with many different character pieces straight out of the box, but you can also create totally different characters with your own pixel art. This asset can handle a lot of mundane tasks for you such as:
- creating folders;
- exporting characters as sprite sheets;
- setting texture import settings;
- cutting the sprite sheet;
- creating animations for every new character;
- creating a prefab for immediate usage in the scene.
An important thing to note is that this asset is solely meant for usage during the production of your game. It isn’t compatible with in-game usage.

For this reason, these additional systems are less polished than the Pixel Character Creator 2D itself. Please keep this in mind during playtesting.

this is awesome! could you show me how to customize with my own pixel art? can I customize animation? is animation for walking only?
Thank you very much!!!
I am still working on a tutorial video playlist for this tool, but you can find info about those topics in the documentation. Specifically:
The characters that come with this package only have walking animations so far, but feel free to let me know what other animations you'd like to see included. It is also possible to add your own animations.
I understand that this is a lot of information though, so I hope to release the video tutorial playlist soon.
